Declan‘s earliest memories are from a cedar strip canoe his grandfather built, and he has loved being immersed in nature since those early days. Be it northern Ontario lakes, the summit reaches of the Canadian Coast Range, or the rugged west coast of Vancouver Island where he guides from his kayak, Declan grounds his interests and work in the places and beings (human and non-human) that bring him so much joy.
Recently graduated from the University of British Columbia with a BSc in Environmental Science, Declan is interested in how diverse systems of knowledge engage with climate change. While in school he co-lead the first peer reviewed study of mass wasting disease in North American sea cucumbers, supported an examination of the UN IPCC’s approach to local and Indigenous knowledge, and spent a month in Khumbu, Nepal assisting in the creation of a community-focused research program. Currently, he is working on an analysis of tundra carbon flux in the Canadian High Arctic, a project that has allowed him to spend over 120 days on Ellesmere Island over the last two years. As an avid photographer and videographer, Declan has captured stunning media in the incredible places he has travelled, including for an upcoming documentary on the Arctic research station he worked from.
Declan is excited to build connections with people and kelp, and to do research in support Patagonia’s marine forests and people who depend on them. He is also on board to learn what happens when you put a lifelong paddler on an enormous schooner–surely kayaking must have some transferrable skills.

In the heart of Northern Ontario, Kelsey's childhood was a symphony of wilderness adventures, from hiking through thick woods to plunging into the crystal-clear lakes and conquering Canadian Shield cliffs for wild blueberries. A move to the Greater Toronto Area couldn't sever her ties to nature; instead, it fueled a relentless pursuit of greenspaces, unveiling the intricate tapestry of thriving ecosystems.
A Toronto resident for over a decade, Kelsey, a Special Effects Technician with IATSE 873, seamlessly blends her career in film with her love for nature. Amidst the hustle of film sets, she finds solace in local parks or retreats to her property near Algonquin Park. Now a mother to Josephine, or the Kraken to her Uncle Red, Kelsey is driven by a parental concern for the climate crisis, actively participating in local climate action organizations like For Our Kids and ClimateFast.
Alongside her soon-to-be husband, Kelsey's wanderlust knows no bounds. A rock climber, trained welder, and a devourer of intriguing novels and movies, she crafts a life steeped in adventure, exploration, and a deep-rooted commitment to environmental activism.

Director of Rubbies
As the venerable matriarch of the Expedition, Penny embraces the prospect of a more leisurely pace in life, yet her adventurous spirit remains indomitable—especially when surrounded by a devoted crew of belly-rub enthusiasts. Originating from the scenic banks of the Cumberland River in Tennessee, Penny's early days were marked by stardom in music videos as a lively pup. She even made an unplanned cameo appearance in the renowned Nashville TV series.
Transitioning to the sun-kissed shores of San Diego, Penny cultivated a profound love for the ocean, frolicking on Dog Beach in OB. In more recent times, she gracefully retired to her yacht on Lake Ontario, where the gentle lull of the waves provides the backdrop for her serene naps on the bow.
In a poignant turn of events, Penny bid farewell to her earthly voyages in early November 2023. The unwelcome return of cancer prompted her journey to the big dog park in the sky, where she reunites with her cherished brothers Bentley, Oscar, and Dexter. While Penny's earthly adventures have come to an end, her spirit lives on, leaving behind a trail of fond memories and the enduring legacy of a beloved companion.
